Exercise of the Month: Diaphragm Breathing Progression

It is usually possible to teach your clients to breathe with their diaphragm, in just a few minutes, whilst they lay on your couch. The problems come when you ask them to stand up. Because the viscera drop down towards the pelvic bowl, the diaphragm has less resistance to press against, so gives less feedback to the client as to where it is. With this in mind it is very important that you progress the exercise from supine to sitting, from sitting to standing and from standing to walking and running/exercise.
